The Microcredential and Macrocredential in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship are certificate programs designed for those interested in studying value-creating education but who do not desire a full degree. The Micro- and Macrocredentials can be completed in a shorter time period and at a fraction of the cost of the full master’s degree. The format is online (asynchronous) and the tuition is only $1,200 per course.
Please note that courses taken at the $1,200 cost cannot be used toward the MEd degree.
Microcredential
The Microcredential comprises just FOUR courses that highlight key concepts and themes covered in the program in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship:

- VCE 520 Josei Toda’s Educational Philosophy and Practice
- VCE 531 Daisaku Ikeda’s Educational Philosophy and Practice (1): Major Education Writings

Macrocredential
The Macrocredential builds on the Microcredential, comprising THREE additional courses that provide more detailed treatment of key concepts and themes covered in the program in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship:
- VCE 511 Tsunesaburo Makiguchi’s Educational Philosophy and Practice (2)
- VCE 520 Josei Toda’s Educational Philosophy and Practice
- VCE 531 Daisaku Ikeda’s Educational Philosophy and Practice (1): Major Education Writings
- VCE 570 Ikeda/Soka Studies in Education
- VCE 510 Tsunesaburo Makiguchi’s Educational Philosophy and Practice (1)

How to Register for a Course
- Visit https://continuinged.depaul.edu/ to search for and view the course schedule information.
- 2. To register, click on the course tile.
- Then, click the blue box labeled “Enroll” at the bottom right of the Available Session information.
- Once the total is calculated, click the blue Checkout box on the bottom right of the page.
- The next page requires the selection of “Login” or “Create Account”.
- Login – This is for students returning to the Course Merchant system. This should not be selected for students who are returning to DePaul or taking a sequenced course that did not take place through Course Merchant.
- Create Account – This is for brand new students and students that have taken classes with DePaul/CPE but are new to Course Merchant. Students cannot use their DePaul email. This will cause an issue with the D2L system recognizing their account.
- When Creating an Account, fill out the form with the basic contact info, create a log-in, and check the boxes of the Terms and Conditions to accept them.
- After logging in or creating an account, you will access your course on its start date on the CE instance of D2L at https://ce.depaul.edu/d2l/login. You will also receive a registration confirmation email with a direct link to your course after successful enrollment.
